Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Cindy Summerfield, a sole proprietor doing business as Careersentials, in Illinois, USA ("Careersentials," "we," "us"). By using careersentials.com or buying a rewrite, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site. Questions? Email hello@careersentials.com.

1. What we offer

Careersentials Silver helps experienced job seekers present their work in a modern, results-first way. We offer:

• a free age-proof check that runs in your browser and suggests changes to your résumé, and
• a paid résumé rewrite ($39 USD, one time, no subscription). You answer a questionnaire and paste your résumé, and we use AI software, guided by our instructions, to write an age-proofed résumé plus a LinkedIn headline and summary, shown on screen.

You must be at least 18 years old to use the site.

2. Résumé guidance, not legal advice

Careersentials provides résumé and career-writing guidance only. It is not legal advice, and using the site does not create an attorney-client relationship, even though our founder has a legal background. Information about topics such as age discrimination is general. If you have a legal question, such as whether you've experienced discrimination, please talk to a licensed attorney in your state.

3. No guarantee of results

We aim to help you make a stronger impression, but we cannot and do not guarantee that you will get interviews, job offers, a promotion, or any particular salary. Hiring decisions are made by employers and depend on many things outside our control. Scores from the free check are an informal guide, not a prediction of how an employer will react.

4. Your responsibilities

• Be truthful. Give accurate information. Our tools are designed not to invent facts and mark missing numbers as [add number], but AI can make mistakes.
• Review before you use it. You are responsible for reading your rewritten résumé and LinkedIn text, correcting any errors, and making sure everything is accurate before you share it with anyone.
• Save your results. Your rewrite is shown on screen and we don't keep a copy, so copy or save it before you leave the page. If something goes wrong, email us.
• Use the site lawfully. Don't submit content you don't have the right to use, try to break or overload the site, resell the service, or use it to create false or misleading documents.

5. Payment

Prices are in U.S. dollars. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; we never see your full card number. One purchase covers one rewrite. Any applicable taxes are your responsibility unless shown at checkout.

6. Refunds (14 days)

If the rewrite doesn't help, email hello@careersentials.com within 14 days of your purchase and we'll refund your $39 to your original payment method. You don't need to give a reason, though we'd love to hear how we could do better. Refunds usually show up within 5 to 10 business days, depending on your bank. We may decline refunds in cases of obvious abuse, such as repeated purchase-and-refund requests.

7. Ownership

Your résumé and your information remain yours. Once you've paid, the rewritten résumé and LinkedIn text are yours to use, edit, and share however you like. The Careersentials name, logo, website design, questionnaire, articles, and software belong to us, and you may not copy them without our permission.

8. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information, including that the free check runs in your browser and that paid-rewrite text is processed by a third-party AI provider and never sold.

9. Third-party services

We rely on outside providers, including Stripe (payments), Cloudflare (hosting), and an AI provider. Their services are covered by their own terms, and we are not responsible for their outages or errors. If the rewrite service is unavailable after you've paid, email us and we'll make it right or refund you.

10. Disclaimer

Except for the refund promise above, the site and services are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Careersentials will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost wages, lost job opportunities, or lost profits, arising from your use of the site or services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (for most customers, $39). Some states don't allow certain limits, so some of these may not apply to you.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing any claim, please email us first. Most problems can be solved quickly and informally.

13. Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll change the date at the top of this page, and changes apply only to uses and purchases after that date.
